Tonight: Watch IAM Members at ULA Launch Satellite into Space

IAM Local 610 members at United Launch Alliance (ULA) in Cape Canaveral, FL are scheduled to launch the Atlas V rocket Thursday night between 5 and 7 p.m Eastern. The 197-foot tall Atlas V rocket was built by IAM Local 44 members at ULA in Decatur, AL.

Watch the launch live.

The rocket will carry the GOES-S satellite, which will provide critical data and imagery in near-real time on severe weather events such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes and flash floods, as well as hazards like fog, aerosols, dust storms, volcanic eruptions and forest fires.

Since ULA was created in 2006, it has completed all of their launches with a 100 percent mission success rate – the only U.S. launch provider to do so.
