IAM Transportation Safety Program Wins National Safety Council Honors
The IAM’s Joint Air Transport Safety Committee (JATSC) was recognized by the National Safety Council as a recipient of their “Exemplary Service to Safety Award” for their ongoing efforts to protect the safety and health of the workers in the airline industry. The JATSC was established by the IAM’s Transportation Department with representatives from all the airline districts.
The award was presented by the National Safety Councils’ President & CEO Deborah Hersman and accepted by District 141 Safety Director Ron Miller, the chairman of the JATSC. Two years ago, Miller received the Distinguished Service to Safety Award (DSSA), the most prestigious honor given by annually by National Safety Council.
“Congratulations on a well-deserved award that recognizes such a dedicated group of IAM safety professionals,” said IAM Transportation General Vice President Sito Pantoja. “Workers in the transportation industry face many hazards. It’s a big job to keep employees safe and these Sisters and Brothers on the Joint Air Transport Safety Committee do an excellent job.”
