The IAM mourns the at least four people who died Thursday after a small plane crashed into and ignited a fire inside the FlightSafety International building near Mid-Continent Airport in Wichita, KS.
At least five others were injured, according to the Wichita Eagle. Another four are unaccounted for. The pilot was the only person onboard the plane, authorities said.
FlightSafety International provides training for pilots of many planes built by thousands of Wichita-area IAM members. The plane that crashed Thursday was a Beechcraft King Air B200.
“As a longtime partner in the Wichita aerospace community, the Machinists Union sends our thoughts and prayers to the families of those lost in this tragedy,” said IAM International President Tom Buffenbarger. “It’s times like these when we all come together to support those who had a loved one taken from them too soon.”
