IAM Members at Aberdeen Proving Grounds Ratify New Contract

Forty-two members of IAM Local 186 working as federal contractors at Aberdeen Proving Ground ratified a three-year contract with employer Jacobs Technology.

The contract guarantees wage increases of 3 percent every year, improved employer contributions to health insurance, improved employer pension contributions and improved language for bereavement leave and jury duty.

The members successfully resisted company efforts to undo language governing work on a holiday and overtime pay that was the recent subject of arbitration, which the Union won.

District 4 Directing Business Representative Rick Compher and the four negotiating committee members held strong for six days of negotiation during the month of January.

“The negotiating committee stuck together and secured a good agreement that had vast improvements in wages, benefits, and pension. Hats off to the committee for solidarity shown at the table,” said Compher.

“Congratulations to DBR Compher, and the negotiating committee,” said Eastern Territory General Vice President Jimmy Conigliaro Sr. “The solidarity of the membership combined with the resolve of the negotiating committee secured a new contract with better wages, and benefits for the working families at Jacobs Technology.”
