Dow Appointed as Western Territory Special Representative

International President Robert Martinez Jr. has appointed Ernest “Red” Dow as Special Representative to the Western Territory.

Ernest “Red” Dow initiated into the IAM on January 1, 1980 working as a Machinist at General Electric for 30 years at the time of its closing.

Brother Ernest has held numerous positions with Local Lodge 794, in Albuquerque, NM. His cultivation within the IAM began by holding the following positions, Shop Steward, Lodge Auditor, Grievance/Negotiations Committeeman, Grievance/Negotiations, Committee Chairman, Delegate to NM State Council of Machinists, Vice-President of NM State Council of Machinists, Delegate to the NM Federation of Labor, and Local Lodge Vice-President.

He was previously President/Directing Business Representative, President of the NM State Council of Machinists, and Vice-President of the NM Federation of Labor prior to his appointment as GL Special Representative.

“Brother Red has done a journeyman’s job in his previous positions within the IAM,” said Western Territory General Vice President Gary Allen. “I have no doubt that his appointment will help secure a bright future for the Territory and the IAM as he continues to service the membership and organize at a high level.”
