IAM Members Ratify Arctic Slope World Services Contract August 2, 2009
Dear Sirs and Brothers;
Last Sunday, July 26, the bargaining unit at Artic Slope World Services (refuelers) voted to reject the Last, best and final, and to strike the company.
The company agreed to meet this past Thursday with the stipulation we agree to an extension until next Sunday, August 09.
The negotiations with the company continued and the company pass across the table their Last, Best and Final Offer. The updated new L.B.F. included:

Increasing the Short term disability from 50% to 662/3% and increasing the cap from $400 to $500.

Allowing the part-timers to bump another part-timer, by seniority in instances of temporary lay-offs, such as weather days.
Other highlights of the L.B.F. included:

No change in Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance coverage / cost.

Increase in part time employees medical benefit contribution “for employees that are not able to enroll in the medical plan”

Increase in pension contributions, with a contribution of $2.30 at the end of the contract.

General wage increase of 3.5% for the first year and 4% for the second and third year of the contract.
This morning at 0845 hours the bargaining unit of ASWS met, for the second time and ratified this package.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Staff of Local Lodge 2003 for their support this past week in preparing the Strike Committee for this bargaining unit.
